My current research utilises a multiproxy approach to investigate the marine-terrestrial interface of Te Whakaraupō | Lyttelton Harbour in Banks Peninsula. Utilising a combination of micro-fossil (palynology and foraminiferal analyses), geochemistry, geochronology and sedimentology on a transect of cores encompassing this marine-terrestrial interface, changes in sediment provenance and rates of accumulation, past vegetation change, sea level variability and also past storm events over the Holocene will be examined. This research will provide the first vegetation record for Lyttelton Harbour. Results from this research can be used for future management response to climate change, increased land use and coastal hazard monitoring.

Professional History
My research concerns the future conservation of freshwater and intertidal environments by determining formation conditions, processes and sensitivity to past climate change and human land management. I am interested in Quaternary palaeoenvironmental reconstruction using a multiproxy approach, in particular palynology, foraminiferal analysis and geochemistry, to reconstruct past vegetation and climate variability, sea level variations and the environmental impact caused by anthropogenic activity. My previous research has included palaeoecological, geochemical and sedimentological analyses of sediment cores to determine past climate, vegetation, impacts of sea level variability and human alteration from subtropical patterned fen complexes and wetland ecosystems in Southeast and Central Queensland.
