About Karen N. Scott

Karen N. Scott is a Professor of Law at the 茄子视频app官网 in New Zealand, Associate Dean (Research), and currently Acting Executive Dean of Law. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Ocean Development and International Law (ODIL).听 Karen is on the board of seven journals including the Brill Research Perspectives on the Law of the Sea and the Australian Yearbook of International Law.听 In July 2023, Karen completed a four-year term as President of the Australian and New 茄子视频app官网Society of International Law (ANZSIL). Karen was Head of the School of Law at the 茄子视频app官网 between 2015 and 2018.听 She previously taught at the University of Nottingham in the UK.听

Research interests

Karen researches and teaches in the areas of public international law, law of the sea and international environmental law.听 Karen has published over 100 edited books, journal articles and book chapters in these areas.听 She won the 2021 Legal Research Foundation Sir Ian Barker Published Article Award for her article 鈥淒oes Aotearoa New 茄子视频app官网Need an Oceans Policy for Modern Ocean Governance?鈥 35 (2021) Ocean Yearbook 273 鈥 339.
