Adapt to change

27 August 2023

Studying Arts at UC strengthens your social intelligence and gives you the skills you need to thrive in a rapidly changing world. We prepare you for jobs that didn鈥檛 exist a decade ago and ones that haven't been created yet. Learn how to adapt to change with an Arts degree at UC and contact a UC Arts Student Advisor for help planning your degree.

HOW TO APPLY
Transferable skills

We round out core subject teaching with the technical skills (e.g. report writing, presentation and communication skills) and social intelligence (leadership and the ability to organise and mobilise people) needed to thrive in a word that is rapidly changing. We ready you to solve new and as yet unknown problems. We prepare you for the jobs that didn鈥檛 exist 10 years ago; and the jobs that have yet to be created.

Timothy Robson profile 2

"Formal writing, research skills and the ability to see the big picture. You鈥檙e always thinking critically and looking for connections between different areas. With a BA, you get to develop a lot of skills that can be applied in different contexts."

Timothy Robson, studying towards a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations, minoring in Classics

"In an Arts degree you learn so many transferable skills. I鈥檓 part of a business-oriented club called Global China Connection (GCC). I鈥檓 the only Arts student there, but the skills I鈥檝e learned still got me in. When you cultivate adaptable skills like thinking outside the box, taking initiative and problem-solving you can apply them to any kind of interest or career.

...I started challenging myself to go outside my comfort zone and as a result I鈥檝e become a lot more confident. I thought UC would be scary because it鈥檚 so big, but actually the opposite was true. It鈥檚 a safe place where you can grow, develop and find out who you are."
