Researchers are also highly experienced in real-world teaching and link both practice and theory together to better teach you how to teach.听It鈥檚 one of the reasons why Education at UC is ranked in the top 200 in the world (QS World University Rankings by Subject, 2020).

Bachelor of Youth and Community Leadership (BYCL)

The BYCL is an exciting degree, unlike any other degree in Australasia. The degree will develop professional leadership and entrepreneurial skills for anyone passionate about issues such as sustainability, human rights, equality, and humanitarian efforts. It will equip you to be a resilient and agile leader in a changing world, qualified to lead yourself and others toward beneficial social change. Not only that, you will have enormous flexibility to build a degree that is exactly what you want it to be. The Certificate option is available oncampus or by distance.

Education story christoph teschers

Senior Lecturer
Programme Coordinator, Bachelor of Youth and Community Leadership

Young people themselves provided the inspiration for the new BYCL degree 鈥 initally through the Student Volunteer Army (SVA) activities and then through our CHCH 101 course. Personal development takes place through service learning and community engagement. In the corporate environment, leaders are often seen as being at the helm 鈥 people appointed to a position, whereas in the BYCL we are focusing on what it means to lead within a community, which often means to lead from behind, to lead from within, and to draw people along instead of making sure they follow.
