Business and Law Undergraduate Scholarships

UC offers a range of scholarships to help undergraduate students study at UC. Check out some of the Business and Law undergraduate scholarships available.

HOW TO APPLY

This is a summary list of many of the UC Scholarships that are available for students enrolled in an undergraduate degree in the Business or Law disciplines at UC.

Each scholarship has different eligibility criteria so check the details of each one to find out if you're eligible.

These scholarships are subject to funding availability and are reviewed each year. TheUC Scholarships Office administers most of these scholarships. Please search ourfor all scholarships currently available.

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $7,500 per annum, for up to 3 years.

Details:To support those studying an undergraduate programme in Accounting at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Ƶapp. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in the first year of a BCom programme majoring in Accounting. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ƶappcitizens or permanent residents. Normally, there may be only one holder of the scholarship at a time. The scholarship is advertised as it becomes available.

Value:Financial assistance up to $5,000 for one year

Details:Applicants must be in the final year of study towards an undergraduate degree undertaking study relevant to a career in journalism (including business writing, journalism or communications); and show an intent to build a career in business journalism. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ƶappcitizens, permanent residents or holders of a valid refugee visa.NB: this is ascholarship.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $5,000 for one year

Details: To support undergraduate and postgraduate honours students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Ƶapp who have an interest in the energy needs of Aotearoa New Zealand.Applicants must be enrolled full-time at the University in the third or fourth year of a programme for an undergraduate degree or a postgraduate honours degree with a major in an Economics, Engineering, or Science subject, or in another subject of relevance to the energy needs of Aotearoa New Zealand. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ƶappcitizens or permanent residents.

Closing date: 31 March

Value: (a) monetary award to the value of $2,000 for one year; (b) an offer of two days work experience with the relevant Ernst & Young office; and (c) automatic entry into the Ernst & Young assessment process.

Details: To encourage and support full-time students in the study of accounting. Applicants must be enrolled in one or more 200-level Accounting courses - this award will be awarded for best all-round performance in 200 level Accounting.

Closing date:Applications shall be made directly to theDepartment of Accounting and Information Systemsat the Ƶapp by 23 March in the year of the award.

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $3,000 per annum for up to two years.

Details:To recognise academic achievement in subjects based on pure and applied mathematics at the undergraduate level and supports students of Economics and Finance at UC.Preference is given to applicants whose transcripts show a strong background in Mathematics or in Statistics or other areas of applied mathematics. Applicants must be in the final year of a programme at the University for an undergraduate degree with a major in either Economics or Finance (or both).

Value: Financial assistance up to the value of $5,000 for one year

Details: To recognise academic achievement of students who have completed a first year of study towards a BCom, and supports study in such a programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Ƶapp for a second year.Six scholarships are available, of which two are reserved students with whakapapa Māori, and one is reserved for a Pacific student. Applicants must have successfully completed at least 120 points of enrolment in study at first-year level towards a BCom degree; and be enrolled full-time in the second year of a programme for a BCom that includes at least 60 points at any level from the BCom schedule. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ƶappcitizens or permanent residents.

Value:Financial assistance up to the value of $5,000 for one year

Details:To recognise academic achievement of students who have completed two years of study towards a BCom, and supports study in such a programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Ƶapp for a third year.Six scholarships are available, of which two are reserved students with whakapapa Māori, and one is reserved for a Pacific student. Applicants must have successfully completed at least 240 points of enrolment in study at first-year level towards a BCom degree; and be enrolled full-time in the third year of a programme for a BCom that includes at least 60 points at any level from the BCom schedule. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ƶappcitizens or permanent residents.

Value:Financial assistance up to the value of $5,000 for one year

Details:To recognise academic and extracurricular achievement of students who have completed a first year of study towards an LLB at UC, and supports study in such a programme for a second year.Two scholarships are available, one of which is reserved students with whakapapa Māori, and one is reserved for a Pacific student. Applicants must have successfully completed at least 120 points of enrolment at first-year level towards an LLB degree at UC; and be enrolled full-time in the second year of a programme for an LLB in courses totalling at least 90 points at LAWS 200-level if enrolled for a double degree, or 120 points at LAWS 200-level if enrolled for the LLB only. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ƶappcitizens or permanent residents.

Value:Financial assistance up to the value of $5,000 for one year

Details:To recognise academic and extracurricular achievement of students who have completed two years of study towards an LLB, and supports study in such a programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | Ƶapp for a third year.Two scholarships are available, one of which is reserved students with whakapapa Māori, and one is reserved for a Pacific student. Applicants must have successfully completed at least 210 points of enrolment at any level towards an LLB degree at UC; and be enrolled full-time in the third year of a programme for an LLB in courses totalling at least 75 points of Law courses above 100-level if enrolled for a double degree, or 105 points of Law courses above 100-level if enrolled for the LLB only. Applicants must be Aotearoa New Ƶappcitizens or permanent residents.

Value: (a) financial assistance to the value of $5,000 per annum for up to 3 years; (b) one, two or three offers of paid summer clerkships at Wynn Williams; and (c) mentorship from a representative of Wynn Williams.

Details: To support full-time ākonga Māori (Māori students) to achieve academically in a programme for an LLB or LLB(Hons) degree at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha Ƶapp. Applicants must have whakapapa Māori and be enrolled full-time in their second, third or fourth year of an LLB or LLB(Hons) degree. There can only be one recipient at a time - currently the scholarship is next likely to be offered in 2026.
