It examines migrations across and around the Pacific Ocean which eventually lead to Polynesian movements into Aotearoa. Furthermore, the workshop discusses pre-Western M膩ori belief systems, traditional M膩ori social hierarchies, and reveal the levels of classism that existed at that time.听

This workshop looks closely at European expansion into the Pacific Ocean and Aotearoa New Zealand. It examines the texts of He Wakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tireni (the Declaration of Independence) and Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi). Furthermore, this workshop outlines the basic differences between the te reo M膩ori and English versions of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the M膩ori and Crown disagreements that stem from them.听
